Chicago Park District Headquarters - Chicago IL

Overview of the Chicago Park District Headquarters building and surrounding lawn.

The Chicago Park District Headquarters is a two-story circular building that combines office space with a public fieldhouse in Brighton Park. Designed by John Ronan Architects on a remediated brownfield site, the design features a park pathway cutting through the building, creating two shared open-air courtyards. Reclaimed Chicago common brick grounds the building in a local material context, while the circular plan and strategic use of materials like bronze-tinted glass and aluminum add a modern aesthetic sensibility. Exterior photography of the circular building required multiple visits to capture optimal light on all elevations.
